Two airlines—Silk Air of Singapore and MAI (Myanmar Airways International)—will extend flights from Yangon to foreign destinations.
MAI will add two Yangon-Bangkok flights more each day of the week. The number of its flights to Singapore will increase from four days a week to seven days, beginning from January 12. It will fly 5 days a week to Kuala Lumpur, from former four days, beginning from December 23.
Silk Air will also increase its flights on December 22, 23, 26, 28, 29 and 30.
The aim is to facilitate the purchase of air tickets for the increasing numbers of passengers during the open season. Passengers are currently faced with delays in going on their trips because seats on the flights have been fully reserved.
Thai Airways International (TG) also plans to substitute the present aircraft with a 260-seat one for the evening flight.
Bagan Airways, owned by Myanmar national, will fly twice a week between Yangon and Bangkok, beginning from December 31, and Yangon and Chiangmai, from January 31.
