Crabs exported to China now reach there more by airway than across the border. Formerly, crabs were transported to China mostly via the Muse Border Trade Camp, said an official of the Fisheries Department.
Similarly, Myawaddy Border Trade Camp, which was third in the volume of export crabs in the past, has declined to the fourth position. The third position has been taken by soft crab export.
The advantage of airway transport is that it reduces the deaths of live crabs on the way.

The volume of crab exports from April 1 to December 13 in fiscal 2009-2010 totalled 22.523 million United States dollars. (See the table)
