Japanese businessmen are now planning to increase their present investments in Myanmar, considering changes to take place in 2010. They aim to preempt making investments in Myanmar before other ASEAN countries come in, said Mr Takezo Yanagida, vice-chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) at a meeting of Japan-Myanmar businessmen at UMFCCI office on December 17.
UMFCCI officials have also invited Japanese businessmen to Myanmar that still has rich natural resources, rich job opportunities and less labour wages, and that is in an advantageous geographical location.
Japan now ranks 12 among the 31 countries that have made investments in Myanmar with a total value of 216 million dollars.
