SamHghā Nayaka Committee chairman Bhaddanta Iddhi Bala handed over the English version of Tripitaka Buddhist canons to Dr. Abhinav from Thai missionary.
A Buddhist monastery in Yangon made the noblest donation when it donated a set of Buddhist Canons to the Royal Thai missionary on January 12.
Mula Sai Taung Pyi Pariyatti Monastery in Thingangyun Township, Yangon donated a set of three baskets of Tipitaka to Srivanna Buddhist Dhamma Yeiktha, the Royal Thai Buddhist missionary under the bilateral exchange programme to propagate Theravada Buddhist Religion recently.
The donation ceremony was formally opened with the reciting of namo tassa three times. Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Pyay Sayadaw, chairman of state SamHghā Maha Nayaka Committee, attended the ceremony to administer the Five Precepts. Members of SamHghā recited metta sutta.
Yangon Division SamHghā Nayaka Committee chairman Bhaddanta Iddhi Bala handed over the English version of Tripitaka Buddhist canons to Dr. Abhinav from Thai missionary.
A lay disciple of the divisional chairman remarked, “They have Romanized transliteration of tipitaka only. When they wanted to pay homage to the Romanized version, they invited our divisional chairman and two tipitaka title holders to join them in paying respect to the Buddhist canons. Since then, we have made acquaintances with them. Dr. Abhinav is preaching every day on Thai Royal TV channel.
“They believe Buddhism flourishes better in Myanmar. Thus, they hold high regard for our Myanmar monks. They would like to make clear things they are not very familiar with because our tipitaka title holders are authority on Buddhism. Dr. Abhinav has already been here twice to ask our Reverend monks to enlighten him on those he does not understand very well”.
Sabba danamH dhamma danamH jinati, it is said. This pali phrase suggests dhamma-related donations are the noblest of all donations.
