Petro Pumps to be Privatized

All the petro pumps will be privatized by March 31st, it is learnt.
However, this privatization will not include natural gas stations and the petrol stations that are filling the state-owned vehicles.
Diesel importers were invited to Nay Pyi Daw on 19th January to be briefed on this privatization program. “The privatization program will promote competition, and naturally, tough competition in the market will reduce fuel prices”, remarked an exporter.
As privatization of garages would create greater responsibility by the private sector in importing and distributing fuel oil, Myanmar Fuel Oil Importers and Distributors Association has already been formed through the voting of the entrepreneurs.
