“Nowadays, certain people have come to deliver sermons based on the religious philosophy which had already been declared adhamma (wrongful religious faith). They are also propagating this adhamma by photocopying the old publications before 1980”, remarked Reverend Kumara, chairman of state SamHghā Maha Nayaka Committee, in his closing speech at the three-day meeting, of the fourth session of sixth state central Working Committee of SamHghā.
Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Suddhamma Jotika Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kumara continued to say, “If they really want to establish a new school of though, they should not use the wording ‘Buddhism, Buddhist Religion”. In my opinion, they had better take another name. Now, their actions are obviously demonstrating their intent to spoil Theravāda Buddhism. There activities are so iconoclastic that the entire mass of monks and lay people are urged to join hands with authorities concerned to do away with there wrongful teachings and publications”.
There have been previous instances in which purification of Theravāda. Buddhist Religion met with success through the proportionate application of secular authority and spiritual authority, said the chairman.
Such being the case, ways and means be sought to prohibit and eliminate such activities, suggested Rev Kumara.
